It’s been 40 years since Mark Marotto ’78 roamed the halls at 601 McKinley, but his Timon spirit is still strong given what he learned here.
“Intestinal fortitude,” says Marotto. “Fortes in Fide. Lift up the green and gold.”
From Timon, he studied hotel management at Cornell, and worked his way up at Delaware North, working eventually as club manager for Boston Garden.
He came home to Western New York, and opened Marotto’s on Delaware Avenue in Kenmore in 1985, always proud to talk up his high school alma mater.
Having a Timon pennant hanging in his restaurant, he says, tells the story of his life. “I’m very proud of it,” says Marotto.
