Spruced up new-look Timon for 2019-20

If you haven’t been to Timon in a while, you might not recognize the place.

Work has been ongoing all summer long inside our gym, cafeteria, and front lobby areas to bring new life to the school. DKM Ad Art and Streamline Designs have created and installed vinyl artwork throughout those areas.

Those graphics, fresh paint, and a new showcase for our Athletic Hall of Fame highlight changes in the gym, along with the remounting of the brass plaque which dedicated the space to longtime Athletic Director Mel Palano.

The front lobby has been rewrapped with a brand new graphics package and also adorned with a four-foot framed art piece featuring longtime Timon Principal Robert Chambers, who passed away earlier this year.

“The changes in our building reflect our dedication to making sure that both our current students and our great alumni feel more at home and welcome in our school,” said Dr. James Newton, Principal, who spearheaded the changes.

Outside the building the nighttime will never be the same after “Lighting up the Green and the Gold.”

Abbott Road’s Property Optics and Timon Alum Kevin Harrington set up 13 LED lights around the exterior of the school to illuminate the campus grounds and building every night. Longtime friend of Timon Marge Ryan collected donations from across the South Buffalo community to make the project happen.

Mrs. Ryan also dedicates time to keep up the landscaping on the grounds. Maggio Landscaping and alum Bob Maggio are also on the grounds with the big equipment each week, keeping the lawns in check.

All of the work done to the building is augmented and maintained by our great maintenance staff as well, who do the little things each day to keep our 70 year old building looking fresh and welcoming for past, present, and future Timon men and their families.
