After 2 days in a 6 games state championship, our chess team finished well with 13.5 points in the seventh place out of 15 teams, and only 1 point less than the third place.
Matt Lynch had 3 wins and 2 draws, gaining 4 points for the team. Jim Kuang had 3 wins and 1 draw and gained 3.5 points. Cullen Tonge and Zack Bouquard both has 3 wins earning 3 points.
Contributing to Timon's placing was Pat Kostek having 3 wins, as the highest grade under 600 rating. Mike Szwed with 3 wins, Bill Daley and Ryan O'Keefe both having 1 win.
Next up for the chess team is the "St. Patrick's Day Chess Tournament" to be held at Timon on Saturday, March 24 and then off to the High School Scholastic Championship Nationals sponsored by the United States Chess Federation in Columbus, Ohio on April 27. Timon's Chess team has attended the Nationals since 1999.
