Drama Club

Bishop Timon - St. Jude High School Drama Club

The Bishop Timon - St. Jude Drama Club is one of the most active clubs at Timon and all students are welcome to participate. Members of the Club are involved in productions at the school and also participate in workshop activities and field trips. Past trip destinations have included New York City, Cleveland, Toronto, UB Center for the Arts, Shea's Theatre, Studio Arena Theatre and the Irish Classical Theatre. In addition, student workshops have been conducted by industry professionals in audition techniques, acting, mime, lighting design, theatre employment, the music business, sound recording and voice dialects.  Vincent O'Neill has offered regular public readings from Angela's Ashes, James Joyce, oscar Wilde, Frank McCourt and others.

Timon produces one full Broadway-style musical and one play each year, with participation of all students encouraged. Some of the past musical presentations include, "Man of LaMancha", "The Sound of Music", "Joseph", "South Pacific", "Little Shop of Horrors", and kenny Spotlight Award winning musicals, "The Wizard of Oz", "Godspell", "The Music Man", "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Willy Wonka".  Our school has won five Kenny spotlight awards from Shea's over the past ten years in the annual awards ceremony which recognizes the finest high school productions within the WNY area.  The drama program has a rich history of outstanding productions which began with the Franciscan Friars in 1946.

Annual plays are performed by the Timon Little Theatre in the Crowley Family Center for Media and the Arts, a state-of-the-art facility located on the third floor of the school.  Some of the productions performed in the intimate space include, "Meet Me in St. Louis", "M.A.S.H", "The Pink Panther Stikes Again", and "John Lennon and Me".

The Drama Club also supports other school activities as well as Ss. Rita and Patrick's pantry through collection of food and clothing for the "Max McCabe Christmas Drive".  Club Moderators are Mr. Bob Maggio '73 and Mr. Jerry Kegler '73.

All are welcome...to the meetings, the trips, the workshops, on stage, or backstage!
