English

The English Department recognizes that students are unique individuals with varied backgrounds and academic needs. The curriculum goal is to provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The members of the department believe that, by sequentially building and consistently reinforcing these skills throughout high school, students will graduate equipped with language art skills they will need to achieve success in post-secondary education, in their careers and throughout their lives. The English Department recognizes and reinforces the New York State Standards in which students will read, write, listen and speak for information and understanding, literary response and expression, critical analysis and evaluation.
